The debut album by Ben Murphy, aka BUFOBUFO, released on “Altered Sense,” a sub-label of the underground techno company based in Brighton, UK, which also runs “Furthur Electronix” and “Beyond Electronix.” A multi-talented artist who has contributed to the hardcore breakbeat revival label 〈Tone Dropout〉 and performed as 〈Escape Earth〉. The project’s name hints at DMT and psychedelic influences. Analog breakbeats, trance, trip-hop, IDM, high quality, floor-filling power, polyrhythms, ’90s culture, and fantasy. It also conveys a depth that hints at a scientific approach reminiscent of Anthony Naples and DJ Python. The artwork, where micro- and macro-level science coexist with mysticism, is charming.
