Format

12inch 3990 JPY

Originally released in 1994 on Mo Rhythm Records, "Dark Room" by MOOGROOVE — the solo project of Japanese house producer KENJI ETO — gets a 12-inch vinyl reissue via Studio Mule, MULE MUSIQ's imprint dedicated to unearthing domestic Japanese recordings.

A hidden gem of 1990s Japanese underground deep house, this EP came to wider attention when Danilo Plessow, aka Motor City Drum Ensemble, picked the 124 BPM A1 "Dark Room" (sample 1) for his Fabric compilation. Now it receives its first straight reissue, wrapped in beautiful artwork by Lily Fei. Four tracks in all: the 125 BPM A2 "moogroove pt.2," whose sense of time and space warps and morphs exquisitely; the 125 BPM B1 "out of control" (sample 3), a breakbeat bleep house cut in KLF fashion; and the 125 BPM B2 "out of time," pure '90s classicism. Mastered by kuniyuki. (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
