Elskavon is the ambient/neoclassical project of Minneapolis-based producer Chris Bartels, and this one feels a bit different from his previous work. The opening three tracks carry hints of dance, pop, and even EDM. From there it's the steady supply of beautiful neoclassical and electronic material set against a post-rock backdrop that he does so well. "Dreymir Aftur" (sample_3), with its satisfying bounce of electronic particles, is another style he hadn't tried before — a welcome surprise. The title track, "Origins," is downright reminiscent of The Books; you'd expect nothing less from a post-rock devotee. (Original Japanese text by AYAM)
