But now is the time to give the A-side its due, where psychedelic sounds and Latin rhythms fuse to sublime effect! It's packed with traditional Latin workouts, from the addictive, seductive opener "La Señorita Lola" to "Lo Sabia" with its punchy horns and grooving organ. "Venimos Acabando" and "El Alacran" are two cuts where bouncing organ and impassioned choruses push the dancefloor mood even higher. A host of gifted musicians take part, including saxophonist Rickey Washington, father of modern jazz giant Kamasi Washington, and the use of unusual instruments like the ossi drum and bass clarinet may well be the key to unlocking this classic's singular mood.
