Spiro World

Originally released in 2022 on Matthewdavid's Leaving Records, 〈Spiro World〉 — the work by New York-based multi-instrumentalist Kaye Loggins under the Time Wharp moniker — now gets a Japan-exclusive CD edition with four bonus tracks added from their 2021 EP. It expresses a deeply visceral personal experience of unreality, an endocrinological Mixolydian heaven, the hell of the pharmaceutical industry, and a love letter to New York.
Track List

The world of Spiro (named after spironolactone, a prescription drug primarily used as a diuretic), where an earnest and delicate drama of endocrine circulation unfolds within the body. A colorful album that packs in everything the artist loves without regard for genre: swirling kosmische, spiraling synth work reminiscent of Terry Riley and Laurie Spiegel, quintessentially Leaving-style ambient, melodies with a hint of Ethiopian jazz, krautrock rhythms, downtempo and more. Moving between guitar and keys, with woodwinds, cello and marimba added to the mix, the exquisite fusion of acoustic and electronic is utterly captivating. (Original Japanese text by Adachi)
