Loraine James, a London-based artist known for her IDM-style releases on Hyperdub, has completed the second album under her alias Whatever the Weather. It’s out on Ghostly International.

"Whatever The Weather" is both the artist name and the title, based on the concept of the "emotional temperature" captured during the recording sessions. Continuing from the previous work, each track is labeled with a temperature. In a complete shift from the Antarctic-inspired theme of the previous album, this release evokes a warm atmosphere and desert climate. Mastering was handled by Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv, resulting in a soundscape with a sense of deep layering. Featuring samples of children’s voices at a Tokyo playground, acoustic guitar, a flood of dazzling electronic sounds, field recordings, noise, and clicks, this adventurous work numbs the brain with its extreme interplay of the natural and the artificial.
