Manchester duo CELESTIAL have unfolded melancholic ambient kosmische across their two previous albums. This time they present an electro-acoustic sound that sinks even deeper into sentiment. "The Endless Stair" (sample1) is a folk piece that delicately weaves flamenco melodies into fine fingerpicked guitar. Elsewhere there's "Mermaid Boulevard" (sample2), a dialogue between guitar and electronics featuring labelmate ROMANCE, and "Skylark" (sample2), a session of layered harmonics and guitar. From the faint reverb and echo to the tension in the recording itself, the static approach makes for a beautiful record. As always, the sleeve is great too. (Original Japanese text by Akie)
