A work about the resonance found inside hollow boxes (and hollow heads): gramophones, music boxes, instruments, metal containers, reverberant rooms. It's an attempt to gather up the tiniest fragments of sound — single tones, the noise of vinyl and 78s, recording mistakes and error sounds — and assemble them into something meaningful. It's also a process of sorting through his own inner mistakes and anomalies and converting them into some kind of meaning. Like interior design, it involves placing sounds in particular spaces and layers and setting them against one another. He cites as inspirations Steve Roden's lowercase work, Toshiya Tsunoda's field recordings, Eliane Radigue's ambient music, Pierre Schaeffer's musique concrète, and North Indian classical dhrupad and khyal vocal music — especially the sublime performances of Kesarbai Kerkar and the Dagar family, who stretch a single note to its limit and explore its infinite variations and meanings.
