Discrepant - Cat No: CREP113
- updated:2026-05-15
The first new album in six years (since 2018) from Vicki Bennett, People Like Us, a master of collage/sampling since the early 90's. Originally released on CD in 2024, the album has now been reissued in analog by Discrepant. Timeless, a true alchemy of pop music. Stocked.
Track List

Derived from his recent audio-visual performance "The Library of Babel", this is his first solo work in many years, incorporating sampling and collage with lyrics and melodies by Ergo Phizmiz, and featuring a diverse range of artists including Matmos, Hearty White, Gwilly Edmondez, Lottie Bowater, Buttress O'Kneel, Douglas Benford, Irene Moon, Jon Leidecker, Matt Warwick, and many others. This is not an isolated creation, but a connective sound tapestry that connects eras and times, transcending generations and places. The music is a dizzying mix of 50〜s and 60〜s pop songs, film music, and easy listening, such as "Love on a Summer's Day," "Over the Rainbow," and "When You Wish Upon a Star," that come and go like a hundred pairs of colored glasses. The intense dazzle of bright and positive blessings is surreal and even grotesque in this psychedelic and wonderful work. (Original Japanese text by Adachi)
