Unearthed here are rare recordings by Tasti Box — a duo active in the early-'90s San Francisco / West Coast rave scene who even released a track featuring Timothy Leary — already championed and talked about by DJs including Idjut Boys, Piers Harrison (Test Pressing), YUSU, Tornado Wallace, Ivan Smagghe, Ruf Dug and many more.

Tasti Box were a duo working in the San Francisco / West Coast scene at the dawn of the '90s, when the city's captivating free-party culture was in full bloom; they also took part in the legendary custom-built sound system parties held at the Golden Gate Bridge, where DJ Harvey, Doc Martin and the rest of the Wicked Crew and The Hardkiss Brothers also played. The only release of theirs listed on Discogs is "San Francisco," a three-track EP issued in 1991 on ZoëMagik Records featuring Timothy Leary. Now London's much-watched label Collective Direction shines a light on previously unreleased material. The package includes A4-size artwork and an exclusive interview with the artists, delving deep into their creative process and the human drama behind their magical sound. The debut release of Collective Direction explores the incredibly broad and fascinating variety of work of Tasti Box, operating in San Francisco in the early 90’s.

This previously unreleased album, made in the early 90’s, captures the spirit of the San Francisco free party scene that exploded around that time. DJ Harvey, Doc Martin, the Hardkiss Brothers, the Wicked Crew and a host of international guests played at legendary all-night parties at locations such as under the Golden Gate Bridge, on huge custom-built sound systems. Helping to define not only the West Coast scene but also influencing the rest of the country throughout that decade. The cultural impact of this moment in time continues to inspire today’s dance music landscape.

Opening on the delicate and melodic ambient tracks Mim and Quetzcal, the B side moves on to explores the uniqueness of the signature Tasti Box sound with the triptych of Desire, U Can Fly and Box, a trippy journey melting influences from downtempo, breakbeat, house, experimental and techno. The C side opens with the killer psychedelic track Feel It. It is complemented by the balearic-infused Story of O and bleepy and esoteric Electrons. On the D side, some Daisy Glow tracks, still showing late Tasti Box influence, close the musical journey with four tracks of joyful and melodic house music.

It’s a compilation for music collectors and lovers. The vinyl includes a limited edition A4 design of the artwork cover and an exclusive conversation with the artists, delving deeper into their creative process and the human stories behind the magic of their sound. Do not miss!
