Side A (sample1) is a jazz-funk, mellow, soulful, groovin' take on Diana King's "Shy Guy," the massive 1995 '90s dancehall-reggae R&B hit, with a jazzy turn in the latter half that really hits the spot. Side B (sample2) pairs it with an elegant, breezy jazz-funk/soul-jazz/mellow-fusion reading of "Mystic Voyage" — the mellow masterpiece and title track from Roy Ayers' classic 1975 album, an eternal classic.
Taking inspiration from Bob James' "Nautilus" and weaving in the image of the real-life submarine Nautilus, the group pursues a '70s rare groove sound while crafting a deep world that draws you into the ocean depths — this is their long-awaited new single. The new album to follow is something to look forward to as well.
Their many previous releases have been highly acclaimed overseas, and in 2023 and 2024 they toured Germany two years running, including an appearance at Berlin's jazz festival "X JAZZ!"
