Idris Muhammad’s 1977 jazz-funk classic A1 “Dominoes,” a rich re-arrangement of Billie Eilish’s 2020 hit A2 “My Future feat. Rita Satch” (sample 1), and A4, a jazz-funk classic by Billy Brooks—known for being sampled by A Tribe Called Quest "Forty Days" (sample 2), and B3 "Losalamitoslatinfunklovesong" (sample 3), a bossa nova-infused reimagining of Gene Harris’s Latin fusion classic—this collection features a variety of compelling, lesser-known tracks from 1970s Australia, including jazz-funk, big band, soul, Latin fusion, rare groove, and Brazilian jazz—each track is a gem. While paying homage to the original compositions, these masterful reworks—created through a fresh approach and featuring a gathering of top-notch local musicians—are truly thrilling.
