Back in stock! Now based in Glasgow, singer-songwriter Joanne Robertson has released solo work through unique outlets like Feeding Tube and has long drawn attention as a collaborator with Dean Blunt. Her new album arrives once again on AD 93. Cellist Oliver Coates, who has worked alongside such distinguished figures as Mica Levi, Laurel Halo and Radiohead, appears on three tracks.

Written between painting sessions and also whilst raising a child, Blurrr is a record of loose and playful intuition. Robertson’s vocals and guitar drift, murmur and whisper across the record; fostering a deep intimacy as unknown emotions rise up from the well. Robertson’s intuitive approach to music making co-exists alongside her improvisatory and collaborative nature. She has collaborated regularly with artists such as Elias Rønnenfelt on Heavy Glory, Dean Blunt on Backstage Raver and
Black Metal, and Sidsel Meineche Hansen on Alien Baby. In Blurrr Robertson turns to previous collaborator and friend: cellist, composer and producer Oliver Coates.

A painter working primarily in oils as well as a poet, Robertson made this record in the gaps between painting and raising her children. Fragile, beautiful songcraft that's been described as sitting somewhere between Grouper, Cat Power and Arthur Russell's World of Echo. Born of an improvisatory creative outlook, these songs feel like solitary breaths through which inner tremors seep out — a lo-fi, watercolor sound world with the texture of a distant memory and the unpolished presence of a diary. The final three tracks were made with cellist/electronic musician Oliver Coates, who has released several works on RVNG.
