We're stocking releases from Hachioji's (Dotei) Dotei Records, active on the domestic independent scene!

Obscure, atmospheric electronic sound coming out of the dancefloor. TURLCARLY, who is also a bassist, has a wonderfully buoyant way of floating a groove. Give it a careful listen. Below is information from the official site. (Saito)

"SIGNEND EP is the debut work of TURLCARLY, the solo moniker of musician Keisuke Taniguchi, who until now had mainly been active as a bassist in bands. Through repeated conversations and exchanges of ideas between artist and label, plus plenty of casual drinking outings, this release finally arrived about a year after it was first conceived. All the tracks are basically composed using a computer, but the bass part on the third track, Sontrium, was created by recording a contrabass performance. There is a great deal of eclectic music in the world that combines elements of multiple genres, and every so often we encounter something within it that opens the door to a new kind of music and makes us think, 'This is it.' I believe this EP, as one 'original' form of dance music carrying the air of experimental music, will bring surprise and fresh inspiration to many listeners.

For mastering we turned to Pole at Scape Mastering. Rather than filling the time axis with sound, these tracks are rich in their expression of gaps and silence, and he output that spatial quality—along with their experimental, sharp-edged atmosphere—into recorded form magnificently. By all means, play it on a good sound system. (We found out later that TCS also had Pole master their first album, so please check that out as well.)
The artwork is by Taizo Watanabe, who has handled design for the label in the past."

SIGNEND EP is bassist Keisuke Taniguchi's first solo release under the pseudonym TURLCARLY. This EP took us almost a year of lots of discussion, ideas, and drinking to release. The majority of tracks on the EP were composed using a computer, but his contrabass playing is featured on the track titled Sontrium. There exists lots of music that combines elements from various disparate genre. But I believe this EP, with its juxtaposition of danceable vibe and experimental atmosphere, has a completely unique and original sound that will give listeners new feelings and inspirations.
