Interstitial Spaces (excerpt)

Extracting quiet scenes and "in-between" moments where seemingly nothing happens from films, television, advertisements, field recordings and musical works, Brandlmayr pushes them into the foreground and builds them into a collage. Moments where only the resonance of the space itself can be heard, faint breathing, footsteps, a creaking chair, the preparations before an orchestral rehearsal, instruments tuning, the groan of a ship drifting in through a window — such fragments emerge amid skillful arrangement and assorted noise in this ambitious work that expands on themes running through Cage's "4'33"." Limited to 200 copies. (Original Japanese text by Adachi)
