Athens Of The North unearths "The Golden Seal," the lost debut album by Black Axess, an obscure early-'80s Boston, Massachusetts group influenced by Funkadelic, Sly Stone, James Brown and more — recorded back in the day but never released. Nearly half a century later, it finally gets its miraculous first pressing on vinyl LP!!!
Track List

Seven tracks in all, including A2 "Tonight" (sample1), the wistful chilled-out black-rock soul gem in full Funkadelic manner that was the only cut issued on 7-inch at the time; A3 "Just For You" (sample2), an 8-minute-44-second slow burner whose sobbing guitar solo sends you straight to heaven; and B1 "It's So Cool" (sample3), a psychedelic phantom funk workout. Throughout, the cheap DIY feel of a minor private press sparkles dizzyingly, and the falsetto vocals are maddeningly captivating. B4 "Tease," a mid-tempo modern funk cut in '80s electro-funk style, is lovable too. Be sure to check the tracklist samples. (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
