Long out of print, this one is finally back in stock. A masterpiece that puts NICOLAS JAAR's 2015 digital-only album "Pomegranates" onto vinyl. The record was created as a response to Sergei Parajanov's film "The Color of Pomegranates" (released 1969). Electronic music that folds in classical, avant-garde and field recordings, rendering the eerie, spine-tingling, languid atmosphere of the film in sound.

NICOLAS JAAR, one of electronic music's defining artists, first released this alternative soundtrack digitally to considerable buzz; in 2018 HONEST JONS-distributed MANA teamed with OTHER PEOPLE to issue it on record. "The Colour of Pomegranates" is the work of Sergei Parajanov, one of the Soviet Union's most celebrated directors, and a piece of experimental cinema that retains a devoted following in Japan as well. Born from the impact the film had on him and his own electronic vocabulary, the album is melancholic and poetic from start to finish. Its collage approach to ambient and piano conjures a strangeness and solitude all its own. The visual surrealism of '69 output as contemporary sound, given form on vinyl — richly rewarding. Don't miss this chance. (Original Japanese text by Akie)
