"LDS," the long-awaited debut solo album from Henrik Raabe — the master guitarist of Wareika, the eccentric German artisan trio exploring the next frontier of strange minimal house who drew attention in the 2000s with a minimal deep house sound weaving together experimentalism and pop sensibility — is superb. Its rich, genre-transcending musicality is utterly captivating. Released on Mule Musiq.

Departing from the cool, jazzy deep house he's been known for, he's created an ambitious, wildly original abstract and atmospheric organic beatdown/downtempo work in which jazz, Afrobeat, desert blues, dub, new age and postmodern influences merge seamlessly.
Like an imaginary collaboration between Durutti Column and Dennis Bovell with Virginia Astley joining in, these 12 tracks conjure the avant-garde experimental spirit of 1980s post-punk and UK dubwise while being rebuilt with German krautrock-style minimal, modern craft into a modern house/beatdown sensibility — the more you listen, the deeper the fascination. It carries the presence of what should be Mule Musiq's defining release of 2026. You'll be enveloped in its own exquisite sonic space. (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
