Volume 2 has arrived in the "Léve Léve" (roughly "Take It Easy") series exploring the 1970s〜80s Creole music of São Tomé and Príncipe, the former Portuguese island nation sitting near the equator off Central Africa. It shines a fresh light on key local groups such as the already-introduced Africa Negra and Pedro Lima, plus Sangazuza and Conjunto Equador, while also unearthing unreleased and hard-to-find tracks — a rich set that complements and deepens the first volume.

Following "Léve Léve Vol.1," this installment focuses on rhythm, physicality and dancehall energy. Compiled by Bongo Joe's DJ Tom B., it gathers recordings from these groups' 1970s〜80s peak, designed to work for DJs as well. You can feel the spirit of the era, with independence from Portuguese colonial rule coming in 1975. Absorbing semba, coladeira, lingala and Caribbean sounds flowing in from neighbors like Angola, Cape Verde and Congo, the island developed its own hybrid styles known as Puxa and Socope. Powerful, popular, and yet intricate — great Afro island music. Carefully restored and remastered by Bongo Joe, it offers outstanding openness and ease for pure listening while also rewarding attention as a document. (Original Japanese text by Adachi)
