Track List

Old Saw is a New England music collective led by Henry Birdsey, who is also active in projects such as Tongue Depressor. This collection brings together familiar members who have contributed to the group’s four previous releases, featuring high-quality recordings made on 1/4-inch open-reel tape across New England between 2022 and 2024. An otherworldly aura of American Primitive envelops the instrumental drone-ambient soundscapes, plucked from a variety of instruments including pedal steel, lap steel, nylon-string, electric, and resonator guitars, as well as banjo, fiddle, reed organ, harmonium, bass, and metallic objects. Amid this experimental soundscape, the traditional contours of country and folk music blur, giving rise to a timeless charm where familiarity and ambiguity emerge simultaneously. Take your time to check it out. (Original Japanese text by Adachi)
