Dream Dolphin is a mysterious symbol of Japanese ambient and trance, active from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s.
Since the rediscovery of Atmospheric Healing (1996), their work has quietly resurfaced through outlets like FOND/SOUND, Music From Memory, and Dismiss Yourself, reaching millennial and Gen Z listeners and becoming increasingly "mythologized" worldwide.
This book is the most comprehensive fanbook on Dream Dolphin to date. It brings together archival materials and magazine articles from the time, a new interview with core member NORIKO, rehearsal photos from a 2025 live show, commissioned essays (by Satoshi Kizawa, Waku, Tokino Fuu, and more), plus a full catalogue covering all albums and over 90 related works.
Built around the massive research of Domdom, who has been quietly documenting Dream Dolphin for years, and an in-depth disc guide by Tsunaki Kadowaki (Meditations), the book attempts to trace the full shape of the Dream Dolphin universe.

Dream Dolphin—a legendary, enigmatic ambient/trance artist active from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s.
The rediscovery of this artist began quietly in the late 2010s with the unearthing of his seminal work, *Atmospheric Healing* (1996).
Following the New Age revival, the Modern New Age movement, and the wave of Y2K reevaluation, DD’s body of work is now being recontextualized as a “missing piece of Japanese ambient history.”
In 2020, the music blog *FOND/SOUND* published an English-language article on *Atmospheric Healing*.
Furthermore, *Music From Memory* introduced DD’s music through *Heisei No Oto* (2021) and the compilation *Gaia* (2023), propelling his cult following to a global audience overnight. The rediscovery of *A Great Mother And A Shadow* by *Dismiss Yourself* (uploaded to YouTube in 2021) ignited a fire among Gen Z audiences both domestically and internationally, and “ambient” and “trance/rave” began to breathe in the same space once again.

The cover illustration is an original piece by illustrator Jōshō, who has garnered attention through works related to 〈Maltine Records〉, artwork for Ninajirachi, and drawing exhibitions across the country. Jōshō creates a unique play of light based on photographs and 3D models.
