This is a live document of a performance held in January 1974 at a water mill near Montpellier in the south of France. This is the first part of a two-part work documenting the birth of the group, the first fruition and concrete realization of the sound of the Intercommunal Free Dance Music Orchestra, the people's jazz orchestra led by French free jazz pioneer François Tusques. Free improvisation, blues, traditional music, minimalism, and funk all come together in this joyous space. Remastered and reissued on 180g vinyl with obi.

The Intercommunal Free Dance Music Orchestra was founded in 1971 by pianist François Tusques as an attempt to break down boundaries by bringing together players from different styles and regions. finally releases the original two-part work from the early days of the band. The raw heat of the live performance, with New Orleans-derived brass, Brittany folk melodies, and North African rhythms crashing together and breaking down boundaries with the cheers and claps of the audience. The miscellaneous, uplifting, festive ensemble is truly free dance music, jazz as a place of companionship created by Tusques on stride piano, Michel Marre and Jo Maka on saxophone, Adolf Winkler on trombone, and Guem on percussion.
