They toured with Sam & Dave and played in front of thousands of people every night on stage fronting James Brown, Kool & the Gang, and The Supremes. Still, the band was not in the class of U.S. hits, and in the mid-'70s the members split up and the band seems to have come to an end. The drama is that the few 7 "s they left behind eventually made their way to recycle stores and discount distribution, where they were discovered by diggers in the 00's.
The band's "Iron Leg" ('69) has become a classic in the UK rare groove scene since it was reissued and introduced by DJ Shadow's Cali-Tex label in 2002, and is the centerpiece of this album, but what we would like to introduce to current listeners is a cosmic, funky, clavinet, psychedelic, and psychedelic tune. The funky clavinet and psychedelic flute effects of "UFO" (sample_1) are sure to be a floor-filler, while "Get Down Brother" (sample_3), a knee-crunching funk track with a hint of James Brown influence, and other raw instrumental funk tunes are also available.
