This ambitious work reflects Martyn’s deep reverence for jazz, featuring dialogues and sessions with a diverse array of collaborators—including Duval Timothy, Dan Only, Lucinda Chua, and Mark Cisneros—as well as jazz musicians Mischa Porte and Cees Bruinsma, as well as the rich lyrics by writer and poet Musa Okwonga, all of which lend the work even greater depth. The album features eight tracks that, while exuding a certain warmth, explore a new style of “jazz meets bass music”—one that is experimental, radical, cutting-edge, solid, and looking toward the next and the future.
