NYKSAN, who has made a name for himself as the founder of 〈TRATRATRAX〉 and 〈INSURGENTES〉—key labels exploring cutting-edge electronic music—has released his second album as COLOMBIAN DRONE MAFIA. This compilation album is the musical culmination of a year-long residency at London’s “Space Talk,” featuring collaborations with key artists from the scene—not only in the tracks themselves but also in the accompanying booklet. “Iridaceae,” featuring Buenos Aires-based sound artist AYLU, creates an immersive soundscape with layered textures, where vibrant percussion freely weaves rhythms in an ethno-dance soundscape; In “Cym,” a collaboration with avant-garde reggaeton artist DJ PYTHON, they present “mutant reggaeton” created by layering processed samples. The album features a seamless fusion of field recordings and effects, adopting rhythms that freely transform while adhering to established formats, and explores experimental, abstract electronic dance music that defies fixed structures.
