〈WARNING〉〈UTTU〉—NAONE and DENIAL, known for their work on various projects and their collaboration with the Korean underground group S.O.N.S., are making a comeback with a split EP! Featuring a rumbling electronic bassline and choppy beats, and bizarre, trippy samples, NAONE’s “Midnight Caller” (sample1) delivers a new breed of progressive house with a left-field edge, while DENIAL’s “Avoid the Voices” (sample2) fuses undulating electronic tones with tribal elements. This release carves out a completely different approach to the progressive sound—currently undergoing revival and reinterpretation—by making full use of dub and tribal elements, resulting in a record that reaches all the way to the electro “alternative disco” scene.
