Benjamin Freeney, whose work spans experimental music and minimal techno, has released a new album on his own label, *Foom*. It features remixes by Tobias. (Tobias Freund), *White Material*, and DJ Richard, who has moved his base from NYC to Europe.

We Are The 719 is the debut EP from Foom label head Benjamin Freeney. Featuring three dance floor cuts plus a remix from White Material founder DJ Richard, it follows on from a suite of remixes Freeney did for Tim Burgess & Peter Gordon’s “Temperature High,” and “Ode To Street Hassle,” his collaboration with Bruno Pronsato that repurposed Spacemen 3’s original and was released by Perlon. His arrangement work has appeared on releases for both Melchior & Pronsato and Chris Korda & André Baum.
The label “Foom,” which began with releases by artists from the NYC contemporary and avant-garde music scene—such as Rhys Chatham, Peter Gordon & David Van Tieghem, and Peter Zummo—and has since been joined by minimal house luminaries like Thomas Melchior, Bruno Pronsato, and Herbert, presents a new release from label head Benjamin Freeney. Featuring two versions of “With The Window Open” (Fully) and (Slightly), an obscure tribal machine beat shrouded in noise. B1, “With The Window Closed,” is credited with “Additional mixing by” Tobias Freund, while B2 is a DJ Richard remix of that same track. Although the meaning of “We Are The 719” is not specified, the release notes state that these are “three analog dancefloor tracks born from an improvised cover of Aretha Franklin.” These are dance tracks that fit perfectly not only on the dancefloor but also in contemporary dance performances.
