The debut cassette by Nein Flower—a new duo featuring Berlin-based David Roeder (aka Nein Rodere), who is active in the 〈Horn of Plenty〉 scene, and Providence-based Lila Jarzombek (aka Nowhere Flower), who has released music on labels such as 〈Post Present Medium〉—is out now on Melbourne’s 〈A Colourful Storm〉. Built through a interplay of composition and improvisation, this work is characterized by a lo-fi texture that seamlessly integrates DIY four-track recordings, tape manipulation, simple vocals, fragmented guitar, and even faint tape hiss and distorted soundscapes. It belongs to the avant-folk/outsider music tradition, drawing inspiration from Robbie Basho, Crescent, The Tower Recordings, and Letha Rodman Melchior.
