*Important* is releasing the first-ever vinyl edition of this seminal 1978 meditation electronic music work by the solitary electronic musician Hélène Ladig, who passed away this past February. Following the premiere of “Adnos I,” Ladig encountered Tibetan esoteric Buddhism, which opened the door to a new creative phase in her career! “Triptych,” a monumental three-part work that uses the spirits of the primordial elements—water, air, fire, and earth—as a guide to delve into the depths of consciousness through sustained sounds and subtle shifts. This 2LP set features the complete, uncut recordings, with Side D brought to life through an etched design.

This is a welcome vinyl release by Radigue, who had stipulated that tracks would only be released on vinyl if the entire work could be included without any cuts. While she is known for a body of work deeply connected to Tibetan esoteric Buddhism, this album marks the first work she created under that influence. This marks a turning point for Radigue, who, after deeply exploring the spiritual world of Tibetan esoteric Buddhism during the period between the release of “Adnos I” and “Adnos II,” returned to composing following a hiatus of about three years. Radigue’s signature sustained tones—which go beyond music itself, shaking the very focus of our hearing and our sense of time—invite you to step into that world. It will continue to live on.
