A lovely collection of short pieces from Lyckle de Jong & Kim David Bots, familiar faces from the South of North crew. 750 drawings left behind at a psychiatric facility; a house standing on the floodplain of the Maas River. A heartwarming 7-inch record featuring a collection of “figures”—short pieces of music—improvised within limited time frames and specific environments, recorded at these two locations.

"Snelkookpan"—a creative method named after the Dutch word for "pressure cooker" that Lyckle de Jong and Kim David Bots have been working on intermittently—involves creating as many short pieces of music as possible within a specific location and a set time frame, and recording them on the spot. This album was recorded in 2022 and 2023 at an exhibition curated by Kim in The Hague and in the basement of the St. Michel art house on the outskirts of Maastricht. For the former, the recording took place alongside 750 drawings by F. van Abeelen (also featured on the album cover)—an artist who, as a boy, was forced to live in hiding in a basement for many years and persistently depicted the world visible through a single small window. For the latter, the recording was produced on the banks of the Meuse River—a river that changes its appearance depending on rainfall, sometimes flooding and revealing various flotsam—with guitarist Otto de Jong joining the session. This charming album features five tracks selected from a series of primitive, avant-garde, chamber-music-style miniature improvisations—performed with various instruments and imbued with the sounds of the surrounding environment—recorded along the banks of the Maas River, where the landscape shifts with rainfall and the river occasionally floods, revealing all manner of flotsam.
