The rare 90s Scottish ambient techno release “Mindweeds” is finally being reissued! The original was released in 1993 by 〈T&B VINYL〉, a label affiliated with “Pure” and run by KEITH MCIVOR (JD TWITCH) and ANDY WATSON (BRAINSTORM) . It features a one-of-a-kind sound where the raw, pop-infused quality of minimalist and budget-friendly instrumentation—centered around a Commodore Amiga sequencer and inexpensive analog synths—is transformed into a unique rave texture.
Track List
"Mercury," which was included on ANDREW WEATHERALL’s masterpiece mix *Massive Mellow Mix* released in 1993, has drawn renewed attention with its reissue. “Mind Weeds,” another popular track from the techno duo “STATE OF FLUX”—comprising ROGER ELLIOT and DAVE CLARK—is finally being reissued! A hidden gem of rave techno that sweeps the dance floor with unbridled psychedelia, featuring a sample of San Francisco punk icon JELLO BIAFRA and a synthesizer refrain with a cheap, filtered sound. This reissue features two original mixes, a cassette demo, and a live version recorded in April 1994 at the “Oscillate” club event in Birmingham—all remastered for this release!
