A unique brand of electronic music created by modifying 1980s 8-bit sound chips and collaging elements like rave chants and video game sound effects. DARWIN CHAMBER, a New York underground hero active since the ’90s, teams up with DJ SPUN! They depict the world of latchkey kids who grew up surrounded by unlimited game tokens, marijuana, cable TV, drum machines, and DJ sets.

DARWIN CHAMBER (Moonshine Music) enjoys deep trust within the underground scene and is a cult figure in the underground progressive dance music world. While his previous work faithfully depicted the journey of an acid trip from ingestion to awakening, this time he expresses the carefree playfulness of childhood using 1980s 8-bit sounds! Rave breaks that fuse Chicago-style keyboards with acid lines (featuring a 4.4-beat progression) such as “8-Bit Phantasy,” and “We Gotta Get” (sample 1), where beep-boop short-form synths intrude with a strong sense of alienation into the hallucinatory, echo-drenched euphoria of disco-dub style—the result is, as always, a drug-fueled masterpiece.
