A mysterious percussion groover featuring dynamic, phase-processed percussion and sultry, cut-up soul vocals! GUILLAUME & THE COUTU DUMONTS—who have gained a cult following with their unique, twisted house sounds on labels like 〈OSLO〉, 〈MULE MUSIQ〉, and 〈CIRCUS COMPANY〉—are back with a fantastic new release that’s just as twisted as ever. This release features a remix by the masterful NAIL.
Here’s the latest release from GUILLAUME & THE COUTU DUMONTS, Montreal-based veterans who have continued to stand out in the experimental house and electronic music scene since the 2000s! “Big Bird’s Roll” (sample 1)—which rolls along with a dubby house groove, phased percussion, and seductive vocal samples scattered throughout—features a remix by NAIL, an original member of ‘DiY SOUNDSYSTEM’ and label boss of 〈89:GHOST〉! Tracks like “Chiens De Chasse” (sample 2)—which delivers an eerie house vibe with chords teetering on the edge of dissonance and a vocal refrain that sticks in your head—showcase their signature style of incorporating the house format into a living, breathing groove, and it’s simply irresistible.
