Featuring a limited-edition remix by MAD PROFESSOR and ANDREW FEARN (SLEAFORD MODS)! The new single from DEEPLY ARMED, a post-punk/dub band based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which was also supported by the late ANDREW WEATHERALL. Heavy bass sounds and otherworldly whispered vocals drifting through the reverb. The remix—a psychedelic dub arrangement of the original track, which seems to gaze into the void, rendered through an intense live mix—is simply sublime. It’s heavy yet induces a weightless, euphoric sensation.
Track List
The band’s sound is raw and visceral, yet the unfocused vocals and post-Krautrock-style minimalist repetitions give the downtempo dub track “Black Ice” (sample 2) a somewhat inorganic and surreal feel. The master himself, MAD PROFESSOR, delivers a powerful remix in a live mix that fuses the science of dub with psychedelic alchemy, bringing out the original’s heavy dub-oriented character (sample 1)! ANDREW FEARN of the British post-punk duo SLEAFORD MODS delivers a Crank-like, aggressive remix—a post-punk-inspired arrangement that highlights the DIY spirit of the original track—which is also fantastic.
