"EM Records' first release of 2015 is a new album from our own Roland P. Young. Recorded entirely in Tel Aviv, it charts new territory in comprovisation."

"After the Brooklyn, NY-recorded 'Mystiphonic' [EM1110CD/LP], with its raw, stinging sense of attack, as if protesting in anger at something, Young left America and relocated to Israel. Approached with a clearly different motivation from its predecessor, beginning with the environment in which it was created, this new work 'Confluences' (meaning a place where people, ideas, rivers and the like flow together) carries an atmosphere that feels like a return to the original world of his 1st solo album 'Isophonic Boogie Woogie' (1980) [EM1045CD/LP], joined here with the multitracking techniques he established on 'Istet Serenade' (2007) [EM1087CD/LP] — a new world.\r\n\r\nOpening with 'Clutch,' whose enigmatic mood suggests modal jazz built on Middle Eastern scales, the album blends intricate minimal phrases of percussion and keyboards, a distinctive sense of rhythm, and his trademark kalimba and wind instruments in various combinations, this time even adding what sounds like turntable scratching, unfolding Young's latest take on electro music. With his firm 'isophonic' philosophy at the core, he delivers an unshakably personal brand of ethnic sound, presenting, as ever, a singular music that could have been recorded in any era. Once the performance begins, its power to draw you into the work and hold your ear is the real thing. It's also a record that should appeal to the New Age music revival of the past few years."
