RIP — in memoriam. Pauline Oliveros, one of the 20th century's defining female electronic and contemporary composers, left behind countless masterpieces as a deep-listening accordionist. This release gathers "Four Meditations" (sample 1), a sound-art work realized in 2003 in 5.1 surround with Belgium's Musiques Nouvelles ensemble,

along with "Sound Geometries" (sample 2), an ambitious 5.1 surround piece for chamber orchestra using the instrumental expansion device she developed, the Expanded Instrument System (EIS). Originally issued on Belgium's prestigious avant-garde imprint SUB ROSA, this masterwork is now cause for celebration as a vinyl repress. (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
