Originally released in 2000 on Puu, a sublabel of the celebrated Finnish imprint SAHKO that the late Mika Vainio helped run, "Strangeworld" is the mind-bending record that takes the world of 1996's dreamy rock'n'roll/doo-wop oddity "See Me Riden" — his first outing as a vocalist — and pushes it even further into humming, blissed-out, eerie, deep minimal & rhythmic echo DIY territory. Now finally reissued by BUREAU B. Cause for celebration!

"Strangeworld," the fifth album by Martin Rev — one half of NY punk's outsider legends Suicide — originally issued in 2000 on Puu, a sublabel of the storied Finnish imprint SAHKO run by Tommi Grönlund and the late Mika Vainio, gets a reissue via Germany's BUREAU B, a label widely trusted for its krautrock and electronics reissues. Simple, cheap, minimal and rhythmic drum machines meet dreamy synthesizers, plus bathroom-humming oldies doo-wop lollipop vocals soaked in echo and dub so deep the water's practically boiling — all of it echoing lovingly and ferociously through some mysterious cosmic, enigmatic balearic space. A truly one-of-a-kind, strange-world masterpiece. 13 tracks in all. Be sure to check the tracklist. A newtone recommended release. (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
