The first seven tracks play out in a flawless flow, coming across like a medley of UVS hits centered on the standout songs that had previously only been issued on advance 7-inch vinyl: their debut single and nostalgic, sentimental instrumental boogie gem "Soshite, Curtis wa Tohou ni Kureru" (sample1); "Sameta Kibun no Boogie" (sample2), a supremely flashy yet effortlessly cool urban disco boogie sung by KEN KEN himself, which even drew praise from Shintaro Sakamoto; "Ame no Uta," a Balearic, elegant city soul number with a faint hint of homage to "I Like Chopin"; and the album version of their acclaimed Japanese-language answer/cover of Slick Rick's 1988 classic "Hey Young World," featuring Robo Chu (sample3). After an interlude, the second half hints at deeper artistic individuality and inner life to come, then reaches its grand finale with a vocoder "My Way" — wonderful. Fourteen tracks in all, crafted slowly and meticulously over time, letting you savor to the fullest the personalities and strengths of these two artists who came up through Hi-Speed, Deavid Soul, and Ken2D Special: soul & disco boogie funk, hip hop, reggae & dub, downtempo, and Balearic crossover, all rendered with gentleness, grace, and total commitment. A gorgeously rich urban musical world of jewel-like quality, with love poured into every last corner. Personally, my all-time favorite is "Havana Club," also included on the B-side of the debut single — a late-night, adult-oriented easy-listening reggae instrumental cover of the 90s flamenco guitar instrumental classic by Ottmar Liebert + Luna Negra, featuring the halting yet achingly melancholy guitar of Kei from Celebs.
