D8. Four Tracks - You Mean Everything to Me

Originally issued on CD only back in 2008, this title finally gets its first vinyl pressing for its 15th anniversary!! The highlight is the double-sider from Birmingham vocal group The Four Tracks — originals fetch over $600, and the material lives up to it: "Charade" (sample_1) and "You Mean Everything To Me" (sample_2). "Charade" is a one-of-a-kind gem that opens with an almost krautrock/psychedelic intro before unfolding into a sublime sweet ballad, while "You Mean Everything To Me" is relentlessly melodic MOTOWN-style soulful disco — these two sides alone make the record worth it. Also included are further cuts such as "Let Me Be Free" (sample_3) by Sonia Ross, whose wonderful voice made a deep impression on label owner Jesse Jones. It's a real treat to hear this whole collection in great condition all in one place. Recommended! (Original Japanese text by AYAM)
