Potatohead People, the masterful hip-hop production duo from Vancouver, Canada, who released three classic albums on Bastard Jazz, have happily reunited! Here's the advance single from their comeback album (their 4th), "Eat Your Heart Out," arriving after a four-year wait!!! Recommended!!!
Featuring Canadian singer Diamond Cafe, this is a bittersweet, wistful, laid-back mellow soulful disco in an '80s electronic boogie vein that calls to mind Sade, El Debarge, and Prefab Sprout — a BPM 113 mid-tempo crossover groove. As always, the production is superb, meticulously crafted down to the smallest sonic detail. The B-side, "Paradise (Nicky's 1 Nite Only Dub)" (sample 2), rebuilt with Nick Wisdom's synth bass and new keyboard parts, is midnight-dubby, funky, and simply gorgeous.
