Balearic crossover, urban boogie & mellow — the gentle, elegant sound production unit URBAN VOLCANO SOUNDS returns with their long-awaited new single "DISCO TABERNA," their first in four years, out on 7-inch!!! The A-side, a fresh new disco-styled turn for them, is nice too, but it's the B-side "Sentimental Lover" (sample1) — urban mellow soulful scatting plus weeping trombone, sax and synth over a G-FUNK-flavored, melancholy downtempo chill-out dubby breaks groove — that's simply the best. オルタナティブ異形レゲエ･ダブ･ ユニットKEN2D SPECIALのKEN KEN(tb,vo)とサンプリング･ポップ･ユニットDEAVID SOULのhacchi(programming)の2人によって2016年結成。アーバン･ブギー、シティ･ソウル、ディスコファンク、ディスコ･レゲエなどのアーバンサウンドを有りそうで無い独自の解釈で聴かせるバレアリック･クロスオーバーなサウンドプロダクション ユニット。同名のレーベルも運営する。
4枚の7inch シングルと10inch シングル1枚、アルバム(デジタル/CD/vinyl)1枚をリリースし、2024年8月には4年ぶりの新作(4曲入りEP)をデジタル配信リリース、10月には「DISCO TABERNA」を7インチリリースする。
リミックスワークとして、2023年にリリースされたHALFBY「fushigi feat. mei ehara」のMysterious Boogie Remix も各方面から高評価を得ている。
DJ現場での声を聞くと、問い合わせ率が非常に高いURBAN VOLCANO SOUNDSの楽曲達はイタリアbarearic gabba sound systemのIBIZAでのプレイリストに「さめた気分のブギー」が入っていたり、イギリス老舗名門レーベルMR BONGOからリリースされたNick The Record & John Gomez(NTS Radio / Music From Memory)監修の注目のコンピレーションに「雨のうた」が収録されるなど、国外でも多くプレイされている。
一部では "謎のバレアリック和モノ･レア音源発掘?!!説" も出たりして！！、本人たちは全く謎めかしていないのに何故か謎めきが放たれている。じわじわと幅広い層の人達に/地域/ジャンルの壁を越え支持を得ている現在進行系SOUNDS。

From URBAN VOLCANO SOUNDS — the Balearic crossover, urban boogie & mellow, gently elegant sound production unit formed by KEN KEN (tb, vo) of alternative outsider reggae/dub unit KEN2D SPECIAL and hacchi (programming) of sampling pop unit DEAVID SOUL — comes the long-awaited new single "DISCO TABERNA EP," their first since the 2020 debut album "blue hour"!!! This is their new direction! Side-A "DISCO TABERNA" (sample2) hits with meticulous production paying homage to the golden age of '70s disco, gorgeous strings soaring soulfully, while guest feature Y.I.M. trades cute, laid-back rapping and KEN KEN's charmingly endearing backing vocals will put a grin on your face.
