Rejecting the marketing norms of the streaming era and initially self-released exclusively via a Geocities-style personal website, this much-talked-about album—which went on to be named Pitchfork’s No. 1 album of 2024—has finally arrived. Cindy Lee’s epic two-hour, 32-track masterpiece is finally being released on physical media via Superior Viaduct’s sub-label, W.25TH. This heartfelt package includes a 3-LP set and a large poster designed by the artist herself.

This is the seventh album by Cindy Lee, the alter ego of Patrick Flegel—a musician and drag queen from Toronto, Canada, who also served as the frontman of the indie band Women, which disbanded following the sudden death of one of its members. Although Pitchfork also named it “No. 3 on the Best Albums of the 2020s” list, the album exudes an air of indifference to such worldly accolades. A fragment of daydream pop that masterfully weaves hypnagogic pop, lo-fi music, and distorted psychedelic sounds into the sweet, nostalgic melodies of a girl group. Produced over the course of several years, it’s a timeless cry and whisper that sings of love and loss throughout. While each track is great on its own, the real magic begins once the contours and memories of each song start to blur—a conceptual masterpiece. It’s pricey, but you’re actually getting a great deal. Don’t miss it. (Original Japanese text by Adachi)
