Jeff Bastow, known for his collaborations with Giorgio Moroder and, in Japan, for the killer Asa Made Nama Terebi theme "Positive Force." His 1975 debut album Music To Varnish Owls By—sampled a handful of times by Knxwledge but otherwise almost entirely overlooked—gets its first-ever reissue, with top-quality remastering and cutting by the Be With team!
Track List

A wonderfully surreal title: "music for varnishing owls." What's inside is groovy, top-shelf library funk. Dynamic yet relaxing, it strikes a beautiful balance between the polished elegance of the city at night, a tense and melancholy wistfulness, and bright, pastoral scenery. It also calls to mind the pinky-violence soundtracks of '70s Toei and Nikkatsu films. A treasure trove of pre-hip-hop beats. (Original Japanese text by Adachi)
