〈Western Vinyl〉 Sinatra-esque luxury and a mood of melancholy, an enveloping warmth like the Shabason & Krgovich records, delicately scattered sound effects. Cici Arthur is a collaborative project between three musicians: Joseph Shabason, the saxophonist who stands as a leading figure in Toronto's ambient jazz scene; Chris Cummings, a key artist in the Canadian country music world; and Thom Gill, a member of the ambient pop group Bernice. A dramatic pop album featuring musicians from Joseph Shabason's circle along with strings.

A project formed to reappraise the vocals and songwriting of Chris Cummings, a key artist in the Canadian country music world. Sinatra-esque luxury and a mood of melancholy, an enveloping warmth like the Shabason & Krgovich records, delicately scattered sound effects. The mix and mastering, which bring out the character of each instrument, are superb as well. With Phil Melanson — drummer on records by Sam Gendel, Sam Amidon and Andy Shauf — plus Joseph Shabason's longtime partner Nicholas Krgovich and a 30-piece orchestra led by violinist Owen Pallett, they've completed a pop album as dramatic as a film.
