A major compilation long envisioned and produced by "JAZZHOLE," the venerable shop located in central Lagos with over 30 years of history! The first installment, "Eroya," is a collection of unreleased tracks by FAAJI AGBA, a Lagos-based musicians' collective mixing veterans and young players. Key members include SINA, the son of juju music founder AYINDE BAKARE, and DURO IKUJENYO of FELA KUTI's "EGYPT 80." These sessions bring together a wide range of styles — palm-wine, agidigbo groove, juju, highlife, Afrobeat — uniting the Nigerian grooves forged from the late 1940s to the present day.
"Totally satisfying. It doesn't get better than this. Immeasurable cultural value, packed with history both old and new." — a love letter from GILLES PETERSON. Be sure to check the tracklist too. (Original Japanese text by Akie)
