Culled from three self-released, tiny-run cassettes made between 1984 and 1987 plus two tracks that appeared on compilations, these carefully selected recordings have been remastered and pressed to vinyl for the first time. Ruben Garcia was a minimalist through and through, with solo work and collaborations with Harold Budd and Daniel Lentz to his name; Steve Caton came out of punk bands and later joined Tori Amos's band. Two contrasting figures who found common ground in the music of Philip Glass and Steve Reich, producing a small but essential body of work. Blending cosmic art-rock with their own take on minimalism/maximalism, they built something in the underground while wearing the influence of Terry Riley, Brian Eno, and Steve Reich openly. Special mention goes to "The Machinist" (sample1), a 14-minute Möbius strip of a synth cycle, and the vertiginous minimalism of "Over & Over, Pt. 1" (sample2).
