After spending a month with the Wanpi, an indigenous rainforest community living in the Peruvian Amazon, the artist recorded field sounds, musical performances, and traditional chants. This album features four improvised performances created using that source material! A new release from sound artist ABOUTFACE, who has also released works on the 〈AD 93〉 label. An organic soundscape that can also be appreciated from a dance perspective.

To protest the escalating illegal logging and ecosystem destruction, she traveled to a forest community in Peru to live among the locals; this recording features an improvised performance using field recordings and other materials collected there. Featuring an acoustic percussion jam by GUAYABITA, a band from the Waupi tribe, and “nanpets” (ancient songs sung from the perspective of animals inhabiting the rainforest), the album reconstructs these authentic local sounds while incorporating original compositions and arrangements. Whether you choose to immerse yourself in the Amazon’s beautiful ecosystem through the field recordings scattered throughout the album or simply let yourself be carried away by the dynamic rhythms and tribal grooves, this is a work suited for both.
