TAMTAM’s latest full-length album marks their second international release on PPU (Peoples Potential Unlimited), a label based in Washington, D.C. Inspired by their travels, the album centers on the theme of "inhabitants"—ranging from plants and animals to inanimate objects and imaginary creatures. It evokes a sense of wonder toward forces far beyond human understanding. The experience feels like peering into an unfamiliar world, yet one that resonates with a strange nostalgia. Each track is imbued with an ethereal resonance that quietly captivates the listener. Following the global acclaim for their 2024 EP Ramble in the Rainbow, this album presents a clear picture of where TAMTAM stands now—curious, imaginative, and deeply attuned to the unseen.
Drawing inspiration from travel, this new album takes "inhabitants" as its theme — from flora and fauna to inanimate objects and imaginary creatures. With the fantastical synth work and distinctly Japanese pop melodies that stir nostalgia on "Dragon In The Lagoon" (sample_1), the quietly pulsing rhythms unfolding into a psychedelic world on "Shitataru Shizuku Kin no Kame" (sample_2), and the warm wistfulness of "Touge - Kitakami" (sample_3), the band gives full rein to the groove and intoxication they do so well. Synth sounds that conjure fantastical beings, paired with groovy rhythm work that invites you to dance.
