A studio session featuring Kenichi Iwasa, an improvisational musician who has also performed with Beatrice Dillon; Exotic Sin, a London-based duo consisting of Naima Karlsson—whose parents are Neneh Cherry and Bruce Smith; and Julian Sartorius, a unique Swiss percussionist who has also released a collaborative work with Valentina Magaletti. Parts of this session were previously broadcast on BBC Radio 3, and now, two years later, the full recording has been released as an album by Sagome. Includes a download code.

This is the first recording of a 2023 session featuring Exotic Sin—previously released on 〈Blank Forms Editions〉—and Julian Sartorius, known for his performances on ECM recordings. Centered around piano, kalimba, woodwinds, brass, drums, and percussion, the six tracks—titled “Path”—reject fixed rhythms and structures while maintaining a gentle tension and at times progressing dynamically. Each track unfolds with a distinct texture and gravity, navigating between elegant stillness and the clamour of noise. The album leaves ample room for the imagination, and the electronic sounds—used sparingly without overreliance—are highly effective, creating a minimalist, organic avant-jam that is truly electrifying. A free-form experiment with sound and sensation reminiscent of Don Cherry. Mastering by Giuseppe Ielasi. Please check out the track list as well. (Original Japanese text by Adachi)
