Carlos Dafé, the "Prince of Soul," guested on "Pelas Sombras" from Arthur Verocai's self-titled album ('72) and, through the 1970s, stood alongside Tim Maia, Cassiano, Wilson Simonal and Banda Black Rio as a central figure of the Black Rio movement. He left behind many classics with a style fusing samba, soul and funk. This collaboration came about after Adrian Younge and Carlos Dafé were introduced to each other by Verocai. Nine tracks in all, drawing out in abundance the Carlos Dafé charm fans have wanted to hear more of: "Um Pouco de Paz" (sample_1) and "Verdadeiro Sentimento" (sample_2), unfolding with a saudade and Minas-style beauty of melody that echoes Verocai's self-titled album, plus the lustrous "Esse Som e Verdadeiro" (sample_3) led by harp and sax.
